Wait!!

Q. What is positive psychology anyway? Are you going
to just tell me to think positively? Isn’t this all just a bit “Pollyanna”?

A. In a word, NO! Positive psychology is based on scientific
assessment of human behaviour. In a nutshell, historically psychology has
studied what is wrong with people and
how to help them get back to normal functioning. Positive psychology is different
to this as it is the study of what is right
with people. BUT it is not an either/or situation – both positive and negative
functioning is a part of life, and to be
able to achieve a healthy balance leads to optimal health – and this is why positive
psychology research is complementary and necessary!
